Deakin & Francis Signet Rings

As well as manufacturing the world’s finest cufflinks, Deakin & Francis also manufacture fine quality British signet rings.
From sterling silver to 9 & 18ct gold, Deakin & Francis manufacture signet rings for business people, celebrities, and members of royalty worldwide.
The process of manufacturing a signet ring.
Step 1)
Solid gold bars of 9 or 18ct are made by the bullion dealer and delivered to Deakin & Francis.
Step 2) Annealing
The gold bar is heated to a specific temperature and allowed to cool slowly. This softens the metal allowing our craftsmen to shape it into a flat signet ring shape.
Step 3) Clipping
An initial ‘clip’ is then done using a small clipping tool to take away excess gold around the signet ring shape.
Step 4) Stamping
A very heavy drop stamp is then used to form a more distinct flat signet ring shape.
Step 5)
The signet ring shape is then annealed again and bent into a round ring shape, to the rough size required and soldered together.
Step 6) Shaping
The signet ring is then buffed and filed to ensure a smooth finish, and crafted to exactly fit the ring size required.
Step 7) Polishing
The signet ring is now greased and polished meticulously including the inside, prior to hallmarking.
Step 8) Assay Office
A trip to the Assay Office is then required in order to hallmark the signet ring with the Deakin & Francis logo and the hallmarks for gold, after it has been certified as being authentic.
Step 9) Workshop Check
The hallmarked signet ring is delivered back to the workshop to be quality checked and finished.
Step 10) Engraving
The signet ring may then be seal engraved according to the requirements of the client. This may be a family crest, a company logo or initials.
Step 11) Final polish
It’s back to the polisher now for a final polish to ensure the signet ring is perfectly presentable and ready to be sent to the client.
Step 11)
Finally the signet ring is packaged in a unique Deakin & Francis gift box and delivered to the client.
